TIP NO. 43 – HOW LONG SHOULD YOUR HAIR BE?

When everybody’s hair on television got longer and longer I was wondering how it is possible that suddenly every girl has beautiful long hair? “But they are all extensions.” a friend of mine said, and when she explained what they are, I understood that  beautiful long locks can be added, you don’t have to be born with them.

But for most of us,  hair cascading  over our shoulders is not the look we need for our lifestyle – on the contrary – for a professional image a shorter look is more appropriate and also easier to manage. And for those of us who have passed our days of youth, a shorter style looks younger.

There are many older women, some even have grey hair, who wear their hair long, down to/and  over their shoulders – they would look so much better with shorter hair, and not run the risk to look like an old girl.

The next time you go for a haircut, talk to your hairdresser, maybe cutting an inch (or more) will make you look years younger, and be more appropriate for your lifestyle.

TIP NO. 39 – LOOKING GOOD TAKES TIME

The other day I was watching a model being interviewed on TV. She was asked, “What do you do to always look so glamorous?” Her answer was, “I don’t always look glamorous. It takes a lot of work and time, not to speak of the airbrushing that is done on my photos.  I would like young girls to realize that models don’t look in reality as we appear in the magazines –  knowing this would help them feel less inadequate because they don’t look like the girl in Vogue.”

Most of us don’t look like the girl in Vogue, but if we take a little time for ourselves, we will look better. For example:

– if you ever wonder should I wash your hair today?’ – yes, you should  – you will look better for it

putting on some make-up (even if you are at home) will make you feel better

having a manicure will give you prettier hands

a face mask once a week will give you better skin

an extra hour of sleep or just relaxing a moment here and there will do more for your complexion than the most expensive cream

an hour of exercise once or twice a week – or just going for a walk – will make you feel more alive

If your excuse is ‘I don’t have the time’ remember in order to take care of everything and everybody in your life, you have to include yourself – take  care of yourself, spend some time with yourself and on yourself – you will feel and look better!

GROOMING YOURSELF AND YOUR WARDROBE

Hello Everybody 

Guess what? This is Blog number 100!

Having written about ‘how to look your best’ for over a year now, today , in Blog number 100 I want to recap what should be important to us, and I think number one on that list is to be WELL GROOMED.

If this brings up  images of bullet proof hairstyles and white gloves, be assured we have left that look behind a long time ago. Being WELL GROOMED really means that you look like you are taking care of yourself – clean, shiny HAIR, manicured HANDS and FEET, healthy SKIN, and TEETH……… and if you can manage a trim BODY, your wardrobe will be but an accessory.

An accessory that should be simple –

– don’t have too many clothes. You really only need four to five outfits for each season. This does not require too much maintenance, and deciding what to wear will be easy.

– narrow it down in terms of colors, have fewer colors which interrelate to give you more use.

– buy outfits? – some women can mix and match very well, others are at odds, so they should just buy what they see and wear it like that.

– make sure whatever you buy feels comfortable. What makes a garment uncomfortable? When the material doesn’t fall and break probably on the body, it looks awkward and then you will feel awkward.

To be able to take care of yourself and your wardrobe there are two other things needed –

1. – you must know yourself – and to get to know yourself  spend some time in front of the mirror to understand who you are, and to see your assets and make the most of them.

2. – you need time for yourself! It is often difficult to find that time, but if you set yourself up as another priority in your life, you will become part of the routine – a routine that will make you feel better and make you ‘look your best.’
