TIP OF THE DAY – 21 LOOKING GOOD AND DRESSING WELL

TIP NO. 21 – FINDING A MATCH

You might have items in your wardrobe which don’t have a mate.  Like that wonderful skirt you bought in a sale, but you don’t  have anything that really matches –  so it is hanging in your closet not serving its purpose — and when you try to find something that can go with it, it will be hard to remember the exact tone of beige, or without having the skirt, to know how a top you are looking at is the right shape  —- not too long, not too loose——not the right color!

The only way to get it right is to take the item you want to match  to the store, find what goes with it and try it on together. I know it is a bit of a nuisance, but the effort will reward you with a new outfit.

TIP OF THE DAY – NO. 9 LOOKING GOOD AND DRESSING WELL

TIP NO. 9  Try it on before you buy!

When you see the label marked  ‘Medium’ and you are a ‘Medium’ you probably think you don’t have to try it on – and how often have you come home and found out that this is not ‘Your Medium’  – leaving you with two choices – one – you take it back to the store (what a waste of time) or – two- you will never make it back to the store and it just sits in your closet with the ticket on it forever -result – you have lost time and money!

If you don’t have the time to try on a garment, or it is a cold winter day, like today, and you don’t feel like getting undressed, DON’T BUY IT!  Come back another day and save yourself the hustle of returning it, or never wearing it.

See you tomorrow

TIP OF THE DAY – NO. 6 LOOKING GOOD AND DRESSING WELL

TIP NO. 6  Buy the right size – you will say of course I do – but sometimes we fall in love with a dress or top because it is on sale, or it is sexy, or it is a Ralph Lauren, but it is a little small – thinking well I am going to lose those extra pounds, and then it will fit!’

Most of the time we don’t lose the extra pounds and we are stuck with something we can’t wear or we look like this!

DRESS TO IMPRESS – HOW IMPORTANT IS FIT?

Hi Everyone

Looking at some people, I wonders if fit is still important?

Yes it is! A good fit determines how smart you look. A bad cut distorts your figure, while a good one shows it to its best advantage. We read a lot about how we can hide and camouflage figure flaws – but why should the flaw always be us? Have you ever tried  on a dress that you liked, but found that it didn’t look right on you? You may have thought that something was wrong with your figure, but the garment could have been the culprit. When the shoulders of a garment are a little too wide or if a sleeve is not set in well, the resulting pulls and puckers are unsightly.  Unfortunately, with mass production, workmanship has declined greatly. Today, more than ever,  time and money are needed to find the correct fit.You need time to examine an item thoroughly to see how it is made.  And you need money in order to get a better fit and finish. Well-made buttonholes, carefully stitched hems and seams, pattern matching on the joints, and a good quality fabric cannot be found in cheap merchandise. But the extra money you spend will pay off because your garment will last longer and will keep its food looks as long as you own it.

It is important to keep in mind that you will look better in clothes that fit well without distorting your figure. For example. avoid a jacket that makes you appear too large on top, a pair of pants with a crotch so low that the length of your legs is reduced by a few inches, or a halter-neck that gapes and distorts your bust line. A halter-neck should fit snugly like the one in the picture.

Since this is a rather long and important chapter  I will continue with it the next time – please don’t forget to come back to find out what else it takes to have the right fitting garment.

Until then

20 STEPS TO AVOID MISTAKES IN YOUR WARDROBE #14 & #15

Hello Everyone

Today it is back to basics, namely to the next steps helping you to have the right clothes in your wardrobe.

#14 NEVER BUY A GARMENT A LITTLE TIGHT

You might think that you will lose weight in the near future, but remember how many times you didn’t or it took longer than you thought it would. Seeing this purchase in your wardrobe will frustrate you every time you see it hanging in your closet. First, and most importantly, because it reminds you of not having lost the weight, and second because you bought a garment you can’t wear, or if you do you might look like this.

Even a size 7 woman looks fat in a tight garment. Better to buy things a bit larger. I can assure you that you won’t look bigger but slimmer in a slightly looser garment.

         #15 BUY THE RIGHT SIZE

The right size is what fits you.  If you are a size 10 don’t hesitate to try on a size 12. Today sizes are not true to what we once knew. In order for manufacturers to save money they often cut their garments on the small side, or they patterns are designed differently. In one brand you might wear a size 10 and in another a size 12. Better merchandise is often cut  more generously than cheap clothes.

So don’t insists that your are a size 8. Instead try a larger or sometimes smaller size – IF IT FITS – IT’S YOUR SIZE.

Hoping that you will find well-fitting bargains this week when you go shopping

         Until next time

20 STEPS HOW TO AVOID MISTAKES IN YOUR WARDROBE – #5, 6 and 7.

Hello Everyone

Have you had time to make your list since last week? Do you know what you need to add to your wardrobe?  —- Well, then let’s go shopping!

Here are the next three steps how not to have a another mistake join those hanging in your wardrobe.

#5. BUY BETTER QUALITY CLOTHES.

You can’t afford them? YES, you can! How? By buying LESS. The advantages of buying better merchandise are:

          – It is cheaper because it lasts longer

You feel better in a well-made garment

It does not lose its shape, regardless of how long you have it

          It fits better

Most important,  you will present a better image and feel better.

#6 NEVER BUY ANYTHING WITHOUT TRYING IT ON

I know it is a nuisance to try things on – in the winter we don’t feel like getting undressed, and in the summer we feel hot and sometimes sticky — but even if you are a medium and the T-shirt you are looking at is marked medium, try it on. It could be cut small, and you really need a large. Or the style may not look as good on you as you had expected. If you have no time to try on, DON’T BUY IT.

Of course, I know that you can ‘always bring it back’, but remember, it is time consuming to go back to the store – and should you not have the time to bring it back, you have spent your money on a garment you don’t wear – so please try on what you consider buying. You will be happy you did! It will save you time and money.

# 7. DON’T JUDGE A GARMENT ON THE HANGER

The look of a dress on a hanger should not influence you. It might look drab hanging there but stunning on you. Or it might be beautiful on the hanger, but not on you. Remember, try it on.

 Until the next time
