TIP OF THE DAY NO. 48 – HELP FOR THIN HAIR

TIP NO. 48 – HELP FOR THIN HAIR

A PERM– I know this might sound very old fashion. It might make you think of your mother, your grandmother, or back to 1950 when most women had their hair permed. It is not an everyday thing anymore, and when  you  have thick hair  – why would you need it?

But then not everybody has thick hair including me – so I am  speaking from experience – and yes, there are literally hundreds of products out there which  supposedly make your hair thicker, and I have tried many fo them, but nothing has worked as well as a permanent every six months. It doubles the volume of my hair; making it fluffy, and curly if I want or I blow dry it.  It has body then and does not collapse into thin strands of hair.

Think about it and discuss it with your hairdresser – a body wave, as it called today  – can be the end of thin looking hair.

See you tomorrow

TIP OF THE DAY NO. 43 – HOW LONG SHOULD YOUR HAIR BE?

TIP NO. 43 – HOW LONG SHOULD YOUR HAIR BE?

When everybody’s hair on television got longer and longer I was wondering how it is possible that suddenly every girl has beautiful long hair? “But they are all extensions.” a friend of mine said, and when she explained what they are, I understood that  beautiful long locks can be added, you don’t have to be born with them.

But for most of us,  hair cascading  over our shoulders is not the look we need for our lifestyle – on the contrary – for a professional image a shorter look is more appropriate and also easier to manage. And for those of us who have passed our days of youth, a shorter style looks younger.

There are many older women, some even have grey hair, who wear their hair long, down to/and  over their shoulders – they would look so much better with shorter hair, and not run the risk to look like an old girl.

The next time you go for a haircut, talk to your hairdresser, maybe cutting an inch (or more) will make you look years younger, and be more appropriate for your lifestyle.

See you tomorrow

TIP OF THE DAY NO. 42 – IS YOUR HAIRCUT OVERDUE?

TIP NO. 42 – IS YOUR HAIRCUT OVERDUE?

When did you have your last haircut? I am sure you would not know the answer. Week after week go buy and our hair looks fine, and then one day we look in the mirror and something is wrong – it is our hair – it just doesn’t look right – that is the moment when we think ‘oh I need a haircut.’

That is also the moment when it is already too late. We should not wait until we see that our hair really needs attention – we should make a point of regularly going to have our hair cut or trimmed in order to keep it looking good. Mark it in your to do list, or calendar. Depending on how quick you hair grows – see your hairdresser once a month, or every six weeks.

Cutting off spit ends, shaping it will improve your hair and it will reward you by being easier to handle, and make you look better

See you tomorrow

TIP OF THE DAY NO. 39 – LOOKING GOOD TAKES TIME

TIP NO. 39 – LOOKING GOOD TAKES TIME

The other day I was watching a model being interviewed on TV. She was asked, “What do you do to always look so glamorous?” Her answer was, “I don’t always look glamorous. It takes a lot of work and time, not to speak of the airbrushing that is done on my photos.  I would like young girls to realize that models don’t look in reality as we appear in the magazines –  knowing this would help them feel less inadequate because they don’t look like the girl in Vogue.”

Most of us don’t look like the girl in Vogue, but if we take a little time for ourselves, we will look better. For example:

– if you ever wonder should I wash your hair today?’ – yes, you should  – you will look better for it

putting on some make-up (even if you are at home) will make you feel better

having a manicure will give you prettier hands

a face mask once a week will give you better skin

an extra hour of sleep or just relaxing a moment here and there will do more for your complexion than the most expensive cream

an hour of exercise once or twice a week – or just going for a walk – will make you feel more alive

If your excuse is ‘I don’t have the time’ remember in order to take care of everything and everybody in your life, you have to include yourself – take  care of yourself, spend some time with yourself and on yourself – you will feel and look better!

See you tomorrow

2012 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 2,400 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 4 years to get that many views.

DRESS TO IMPRESS – read part of my book everyday.

Hello Everyone

Maybe you don’t know that I have written a book  about how to –  –

I now would like to share this book  with you by publishing  part of it every day on my blog. I hope you will find it interesting and keep reading – every day

                               INTRODUCTION

HOW TO LOOK AND FEEL YOUR BEST  EVERY DAY

How good-looking you are, and how confident you feel about yourself is not a matter of how fashionable you are, or of how much money you have, or even of how beautiful you are, it is a matter of how well you can present and package yourself.

Yes, packaging is what sells most products and when it comes to looking good, you are the product and your clothes are the wrapping.

The belief that there are no ugly women, just women who do not know how to look attractive, is truer today than ever before. Today there are not limits on what a woman can wear. There are not do’s and dont’s, and not even the fashion designers impose any particular look on today’s woman. Our options are varied and plentiful and if a woman cannot find her particular look among them, she can only blame herself that she is not looking her best.

Without over-emphasising the importance of appearance, don’t forget that the biggest asset you in life is yourself and you must use it to its best advantage. The French philosopher Voltaire once said: ‘DRESS CHANGES THE MANNER.’ That was true in the eighteens century and it is still true today. Think about how good you feel  when wearing your favourite outfit – or how you want to fade into the wall when you are wearing something you don’t like, and know you don’t look good in.

Choosing the right clothes can make you look and feel your best everyday. However, it does not happen by itself. It takes a little time and more importantly a commitment to yourself

Having made the decision to find out HOW TO LOOK AND FEEL YOUR BEST EVERY DAY you might ask, ‘Now wat?’

The first step is to take inventory of yourself. This is not an exercise in scrutinising your defects. The point is to look at your body objectively and make a list of your assets; my legs are good; I should probably wear more skirts. My hair should not be pulled back, or maybe it would look more feminine a little longer. What about make-up to bring out my eyes?

To see what you like about yourself, you need – besides an open mind – a full length mirror. Stand in front of it and try to imagine that the person  is someone else. This way your good points become more apparent. Being more objective will make you more generous. You will give yourself credit for what you have instead of being over-critical.

Start with your hair. Does it frame your face the right way? Is it too short to do so? Or if your hair is long. would a shorter style make it appear thicker and more sensual? Would more frequent brushing add the life that is missing? When looking at your face, it might occur to you that make-up could improve it. If you are not used do wearing any, or if you don’t want to look made-up, relax: having good make-up that enhances your face does not mean a heavy, painted look. It can be very subtle and still create the effect you want.

That is all for today – please come back tomorrow and read the rest of the INTRODUCTION and find out how you can TELL THE TRUTH about your body.

Until then – STAY WELL AND LOOK YOUR BEST.
