TIP NO. 70 – THINGS TO REMEMBER

1. If you wear make-up don’t try on clothes the day you don’t – without make-up the result will not be dependable.

2. When you are tired, it’s better not to wear black. Instead, put a lighter shade next to your face.

3. Prints or designs of any kind need simple, quiet accessories in solid tones.

4. Since long sleeves lead the eyes to your hands, pay attention to your manicure.

5. When wearing white – any garment in white – must be of good quality. A white garment in a cheap fabric will make you look that way.

To avoid a thrown together look lay out everything that you intend to wear the next day before you go to bed. If a button is missing, if your suit needs a little touch-up pressing, if your shoes require polish, and to make sure that your outfit is well-coordinated — the night before is the time to do it. It is the best way to look well-groomed every day. And in the morning it allows you to dress without rushing or confusion. You can use the extra time for your make-up or enjoy a leisurely breakfast that will start you off on a better day!

Are you wearing glasses? I do – and I found out that my glasses can either enhance my eyes or not, depending on how well I have applied my eye makeup. 

After applying your eye makeup don’t just get up, put on your glasses and go. Instead before you leave your mirror, put your glasses on and check if everything is in the right place – no mascara on your eyelids; not too much eyeshadow; not a too heavy eye liner  –remember glasses magnify your eyes and show up any little fault.  

But the good news about wearing glasses is that it makes your eyes look bigger and if everything is in the right place, glasses add interest and often make a woman look sexy.

TIP N0. 52 – THE IMPORTANCE OF EYEBROWS

Many makeup artists believe that it is the major feature in defining your face. And if you think of  famous stars, like Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor   Joan Crawford,  Brooke Shields, you see how true this is. 

What do your eyebrows do for your face?

You can change their shape by tweezing, waxing, and threading. You can change their color. You can even have hair implants to make them thicker. But whatever you do have a professional advise you  – most Nail Salons do it – and then there are salons which specialize in shaping eyebrows, and you can find them on-line.

It is worth a try – you will be surprised by the (positive) change.

TIP NO. 48 – HELP FOR THIN HAIR

A PERM– I know this might sound very old fashion. It might make you think of your mother, your grandmother, or back to 1950 when most women had their hair permed. It is not an everyday thing anymore, and when  you  have thick hair  – why would you need it?

But then not everybody has thick hair including me – so I am  speaking from experience – and yes, there are literally hundreds of products out there which  supposedly make your hair thicker, and I have tried many fo them, but nothing has worked as well as a permanent every six months. It doubles the volume of my hair; making it fluffy, and curly if I want or I blow dry it.  It has body then and does not collapse into thin strands of hair.

Think about it and discuss it with your hairdresser – a body wave, as it called today  – can be the end of thin looking hair.

TIP OF THE DAY NO. 44 – NEVER SLEEP WITH YOUR MAKE-UP ON

TIP NO. 44 –  NEVER SLEEP WITH YOUR MAKE-UP ON

When at 89 my mother died, she still had beautiful, clear skin, and was often asked what her secret was. “Never going to bed with my make-up on” was her reply.

It is also said that your gens have something to do with good skin, but this being so or not, taking good care of your skin will keep it young and healthy looking. – and it is therefore, most important to keep it clean – to remove the pollution of the day – to give it rest,  a chance to breathe.

I know from experience that there are evenings I am so tired that I would rather just fall into bed, but making the effort not to, my face rewards me the next morning with looking healthy and fresh  —  your skin too will look better if you take your make-up off every night!

TIP OF THE DAY NO. 39 – LOOKING GOOD TAKES TIME

TIP NO. 39 – LOOKING GOOD TAKES TIME

The other day I was watching a model being interviewed on TV. She was asked, “What do you do to always look so glamorous?” Her answer was, “I don’t always look glamorous. It takes a lot of work and time, not to speak of the airbrushing that is done on my photos.  I would like young girls to realize that models don’t look in reality as we appear in the magazines –  knowing this would help them feel less inadequate because they don’t look like the girl in Vogue.”

Most of us don’t look like the girl in Vogue, but if we take a little time for ourselves, we will look better. For example:

– if you ever wonder should I wash your hair today?’ – yes, you should  – you will look better for it

putting on some make-up (even if you are at home) will make you feel better

having a manicure will give you prettier hands

a face mask once a week will give you better skin

an extra hour of sleep or just relaxing a moment here and there will do more for your complexion than the most expensive cream

an hour of exercise once or twice a week – or just going for a walk – will make you feel more alive

If your excuse is ‘I don’t have the time’ remember in order to take care of everything and everybody in your life, you have to include yourself – take  care of yourself, spend some time with yourself and on yourself – you will feel and look better!

TIP NO. 38 – PERFUME NOT JUST ON YOUR SKIN

The art of making perfume started in Ancient Egypt, and through the ages became  part of a women’s aura. In the France on the court of Louis XIV perfume even substituted for soap and water.

Today we are lucky to have soap, water and perfume. And for most women it is part of their daily beauty routine to spray on their favorite fragrance Lady with perfume– but if you want to extend its allure, put your empty or nearly empty perfume bottles (open) in your lingerie drawers  – and your underwear will smell as good as you.

TIP OF THE DAY NO. 34 – BE CONSISTENT

TIP NO 34. – BE CONSISTENT

Whatever we decide to do to improve ourselves – our looks, our health, our body —- will only work if done regularly. You’re not obliged to do something everyday, but work out a certain pattern such as a face masque once a week – exercise twice a week, or having four nights of enough sleep.

It’s like saving money: A little regularly will become a lot eventually!

No, I won’t see you tomorrow because I am going away, and believe it or not, to a place that  has no internet connection – yes they still do exist – but I will see you again regularly as of February 27, 2013. Until then, stay well.
